What is Mikołajki: Saint Nicholas Day in Poland?
Besides being the official tree-lighting day, December 6 marks Mikołajki in Poland, also known as Saint Nicholas Day, a tradition that goes back centuries. In Wrocław, Mikołajki celebrations coincide with the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree.
On the night of 5–6 December, children wake to find small gifts tucked under pillows, in shoes, or socks. It isa sweet surprise from Święty Mikołaj. Schools and families exchange presents, keeping the spirit alive.
