Wrocław with Kids: Family-Friendly Activities and Attractions

Wrocław riverside on a hidden gems walking tour

One of the most frequently asked questions I encounter is: What to do in Wrocław with kids? I say, it is a city custom-made for kids. Within a 5 km radius of the Wrocław Old Town, families can find interactive indoor museums, large-scale outdoor spaces, city parks and attractions designed around the famous African wildlife, waterworld, and more. Wrocław’s best attractions are thoughtfully designed with curiosity-driving visuals.

For my everyday work, I spend ample time planning city tour routes and excursions for visiting families. Thanks to its flat terrain, Wrocław is easy to navigate with children, largely because every major site in the city is accessible by public transport and functions year-round. Bear in mind that open spaces are more suited for kids in warmer months.

This guide brings top family-friendly attractions in Wrocław in one place. My focus remains on practical things to do in the city with kids. Each attraction/activity explains what to expect and how families usually experience it.

Window views during Wroclaw boat party

Wrocław’s city centre is shaped by a cluster of islands separated by the Odra River and its branches. Which makesWrocław boat tour a popular activity for families during warmer months. Several operators run boat, ferry, and paddlecraft services directly from central locations. Thus, allowing children to experience the city from the water. For youngsters and adults, Wrocław river cruise options with a boat party are also a great way to unwind and indulge in local life. The boat party runs typically on the summer weekends.

Among other options, Wrocław river cruises depart from multiple points along the Odra River. Some popular nearby points are the Old Town, Przystań Kardynalska, Kaczuszka Marina, Przystań Hala Targowa and the University area. These scenic water rides typically last between 45 and 60 minutes, passing under historic bridges and along riverside parks. Commentary, when provided, is light and secondary to the ride itself.

9Historic Trams in Wrocław

Historic trams in Wrocław operate on weekends (including Fridays), with more frequency during the summer. Heritage trams and buses in Wroclaw are a major crowd puller. They use restored vehicles from different periods of the city’s public transport history. These rides run on designated routes through Old Town and include popular streets with uninterrupted views of the city’s biggest landmarks.

These tram rides offer a slow-paced ride through streets, bridges, and squares that children love the most. Thehistoric tram line experience focuses on the vehicle itself rather than guided narration, with drivers and conductors dressed in period uniforms. Historic trams in Wrocław sell tickets separately directly through the conductors on board. The prices are around the standard public transport fares.
