The Christmas Market Map: Where to Go

The market spreads across the heart of Wrocław Old Town:

  • Rynek (Old Town): The heart of the market with the tallest Christmas tree, main stage, and central stalls.
  • Plac Solny: Cosy, flower shop-lined square transformed into a foodie corner.
  • Świdnicka & Oławska Streets: Lined with smaller chalets, perfect for quieter browsing.
  • Fairy-Tale Forest & Joy Rides: A highlight for families with kids, hidden among the wooden huts.

In 2025, the market expands a little more than in previous years. Świdnicka now runs all the way to the underpass towards the Opera House, and Oławska carries the trail up to Szewska. Expect the flow of chalets to feel more continuous, especially around the Opera corner. The entire event, as always, is coordinated by the Pianoforte Artistic Agency.

Tip: Start at Rynek for the wow-factor lights, then escape to Plac Solny when you want space to breathe. Head up to one of the viewing platforms and enjoy the sight from a distance. It’s a rewarding angle for photographers seeking candid Christmas Market shots.

What’s New at Wrocław Christmas Market 2025?

  • Northern Frontage – World of the Forest Gnomes

  • East Frontage – Fairy Tale Forest
Interactive gift factory, mini story huts, a family zone with new rides including a rollercoaster, plus a windmill tower with a mini train.
  • South Frontage – Land of Dwarves and Reindeer
Large illuminated reindeer installation with an enchanted sleigh for photos, and the “Under the Dwarf House” for hot drinks.
  • Plac Solny – The Elf Realm
Fresh décor around the Salt Square Town Hall, hourly chimes, the Elf Keyhole photo spot, and Magic Playland — an obstacle course for kids and adults.

A major entrance gate also debuts this year on Oławska Street: 5.5 metres tall, 8 metres wide and covered in dense greenery and hundreds of lights, welcoming visitors into the market.

What is Mikołajki: Saint Nicholas Day in Poland?

Besides being the official tree-lighting day, December 6 marks Mikołajki in Poland, also known as Saint Nicholas Day, a tradition that goes back centuries. In Wrocław, Mikołajki celebrations coincide with the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree.

On the night of 5–6 December, children wake to find small gifts tucked under pillows, in shoes, or socks. It isa sweet surprise from Święty Mikołaj. Schools and families exchange presents, keeping the spirit alive.

In Wrocław, Mikołajki adds to the festive mood. Carols echo in the square, choirs perform, and the tree lights up for the first time, signalling that the Christmas season has officially begun.

    Family Fun and Traditions

Highlights for children include the Fairy-Tale Forest, carousel rides, and meeting Santa. Look out for nativity scenes and folk art. It is Poland’s Christmas traditions on display. The Christmas Eve atmosphere is especially moving, with carols echoing across the square.
