City: Wrocław – Wałbrzych
Tour Type: Day Trip from Wrocław
Duration: ~8 hours round trip
Customization: Available
Join this private day trip and uncover one of Lower Silesia’s greatest landmarks, the magnificent Książ Castle. Travel southwest from Wrocław by train and explore Poland’s third-largest castle, known as the Pearl of Lower Silesia.
Książ Castle rises dramatically over the Wałbrzych hills, blending Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo styles. With a history spanning over 800 years, the castle has hosted Polish royals and the aristocratic Hochberg family. During WWII, it was slated to become Hitler’s headquarters, a plan that was never realised. Today, the castle’s restored Baroque interiors, tapestried salons, underground tunnels, and scenic courtyards leave visitors spellbound.
By train, we can also hike from Wałbrzych Szczawienko to Książ Castle, a 6 km trail (about 1.5 hours) through the lush greenery of the Owl Mountains. Highly recommended if you like a scenic approach. Palm House in Wałbrzych is a subsidiary of Książ Castle, entrance is included with the castle ticket.
