After an incredibly hectic season in the Polish meetings industry, this news felt gratifying. As someone actively engaged in Poland MICE tourism​, I had the joy of guiding many participating MICE professionals in Poland for the first time. I must mention, they had a memorable experience on their guided tour of Poland. But I’ll keep that story for another day 😉

As we approach the end of another eventful year, it’s time to reflect on some outstanding developments that have marked Poland’s remarkable achievements in the meeting and events industry. Poland’s rise in the MICE industry is no accident, and I have so many facts and stats to share with you. The latest trends and stats point towards destination Poland exhibiting remarkable growth in the MICE sector.

So, I stumbled upon a report by POT on the ‘Meetings and Events Industry in Poland 2024’. The report summarises the major events in Poland and presents promising insights backed by encouraging numbers.

Here are the key takeaways:

1. Poland’s result in the ICCA 2023 (International Congress and Convention Association) was developed in cooperation with ICCA members, including the Polish Tourist Organisation and Polish partners from the meetings industry. The report analysed almost 10,000 international meetings in 2023.

2. Compared to 2022, the ICCA reported cities experienced a 51 per cent increase in reported events in 2023.

3. In 2023, conferences and congresses comprised 54 per cent of all events and had the largest share (a 12 per cent increase compared to the previous year).

4. Corporate and incentive events accounted for 41 per cent, while fairs and exhibitions constituted 5 per cent.

5. The 17th ranking worldwide is Poland’s best-recorded result–a six-place jump compared to 2022.

6. In 2023, the conventions from Poland MICE tourism​ accounted for 179 international meetings, highlighting strategic investments in the meetings and events industry.

7. The report strengthens Poland’s position in the international MICE industry and emphasises its potential as a key player in the global meetings sector.

8. A cross-border geopolitical situation aside, this report highlights Poland’s growing reputation for holding world-class events at the highest level.

From Kraków’s ICCA convention in 2022 to the latest on the floor at IMEX America 2024, Poland has strengthened its stand as one of the world’s favourite destinations for event planners. The MICE industry in Poland has been nurtured and driven by the Polish Tourism Organisation and a thriving domestic business tourism sector.

  1. I believe that most congresses are just excuses for corporate players and their customers to have a week of holidays they can deduct from their taxes as “professional” expenses. While it may be that Poland’s star is rising, nothing is going to beat a “congress” in the Bahamas, Thailand, or whatever other exotic destination …
